Adding event filters to schedules

 

Introduction

A reserVie schedule is a widget that can be placed on a website to automatically generate and display events in a timetable or schedule. This section describes how to filter events based on category.

Categories

Categories present a mechanism that allow you to filter events based on a tag. This allows you to have multiple schedules and for each schedule to display different events.

Both events schedules have a way of being tagged with categories. When categories are used within a schedule, only events that have been tagged with associated categories will be be displayed within that schedule.

Getting started

To use category filters the steps are as follows:

  1. Add one or more categories e., Yoga, Mindfulness, Workshops, Classes

  2. Create / Edit a schedule and tag with a category

  3. Create / Edit events and tag with the sme category as the schedule

Step 1 - Add categories

To add a category -

  1. navigate to Events -> Categories ( https://go.reservie.net/category/)

  2. Click ‘Add Category’

  3. Give Category a name

  4. Repeat for any other categories

Step 2 - Tag schedules with categories

To use the category in the schedule:

  1. Navigate to Schedules

  2. Create or Edit schedule

  3. In the categories section select one (or more) of the previously created categories

  4. Complete / Save Schedule

Step 3 - Tag events

To use the category in the events:

  1. Click Events -> Course View

  2. Click Refresh (top right)

  3. Find event and click edit

  4. Walk through the wizard to the final properties setup.

  5. In the categories box, select one or more of the categories that you previously assigned to the schedule.
