Events and classes

Updated Aug 27, 2026 3 min read

What events are, who runs them, why people use a booking system for them, and what reservie gives you. The short version, before any of the setup detail.

An event in reservie is anything a group of people book onto — a weekly class, a course, a workshop, a retreat, a one-off session. If it has a date, a place limit and a price, it is an event.

Traditionally, filling them has meant a register on paper, a spreadsheet of who has paid, and a fair amount of chasing. Then someone messages the night before to say they cannot make it, and you are working out who to offer their place to.

With reservie, your timetable is online and bookable around the clock. You add your events and their dates, publish the schedule to your own website, and the system sells the places, takes the money and keeps the register up to date.

How it works

Four steps, start to finish: you add an event with its dates and prices, you publish your schedule, your customer picks the classes they want, and they check out.

The whole thing in 35 seconds. No sound needed.

Who runs them

  • Yoga, pilates and movement — weekly classes, beginners’ courses, workshops
  • Fitness and wellbeing — group sessions, block-booked programmes, retreats
  • Teaching and creative — dance, music, craft, anything taught to a room
  • One-off occasions — a guest teacher, a taster day, a special

If some of your work is one person at a time and some of it is a room full of people, events are for the second kind.

Why people use them

  • Bookings while you teach. Your timetable is open when you are not. Evenings, weekends, the middle of a class.
  • Paid before they arrive. The place is sold when it is booked, so you are not collecting money at the door.
  • The register looks after itself. Who is coming, who has paid, who cancelled — without a clipboard.
  • A full class stays full. When someone drops out, the waiting list picks up the place.
  • Courses as well as drop-ins. Sell a whole term as one block, or single dates, or both.
  • On your own website. Your schedule sits on your site, so people book without being sent somewhere else.

What reservie gives you

  • Your timetable — one class or a whole term, with dates generated weekly or monthly rather than typed out
  • Your prices — standard, concession, drop-in, whatever you offer, on the same event
  • Your places — how many can come, and a waiting list once they are gone
  • Payment at booking — card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, straight into your account
  • Confirmations and reminders — sent for you, in your own wording
  • One place for everything — classes and appointments on the same calendar, bookable from the same page
